I was told from the CC dealer that I only need to replace my fuel element for my 2004 Air 226 with the excalibur engine every 400-500 hrs. Any opinions are welcomed.
I only replace it when there starts to be a problem... And seeing as how there is less than 650 hrs on my boat, and I have owned it for 8 years, and only replaced it once... 400-500 hours seems about right.

My manual says to change it every 100 hours, and once a year. My opinion, that is much more often than is needed. Changing the filter at 400 to 500 is not unreasonable, If you have run clean gas in the boat all the time. You can get an idea of how much dirt is in there by removing the drain plug on the bottom of the FCC, and seeing how much dirt comes out, and water too. Collect the gas in a suitable container. Observe all the normal precautions about handling gas. Plan on about a quart and a half coming out of the FCC.
