    changing v-drive (walters transmission)

I'm changing my v-drive transmission fluid on my 2004 air 226 with the 330 excalibur and walters v-drive transmission. I have tried an open end wrench and also a crescent wrench with no luck. I'm just not able to get enough torque due to the lack of room. My next attempt will be with an air rachet with a gaitor grip socket. If anyone has a better suggestion or something that works for them pleeeeease share

    thanks joe

You can get 8 point sockets that will fit the plugs to drain the oil. On the 226 I think there is enough room to cut an old plactic milk carton in half, or one third, and put that under the drain plug that is on the bottom of the walters V-drive. It is to the rear, under the prop shaft flange.

I had open the nut of the v-drive with a open wrench whilst the v-drive was pulled out of the boat, there are two nuts you can open,I can imagine its hard to loose it inside the boat, a fit and suitable length open wrench will be helpful, but you may use a mini hand oil extractor pump cost 20-30 make easy to do this job.
