Acme 856 versus 644 versus 536 for '03 Sante

How much an improved response will I get for wakeboarding if I go from the stock 536 to a 644? We normally just run with stock ballast, but many times we have a good 6-8 people on the boat. I can pick up a 644 for a great price, but wanted to make sure it would make a difference over the stock 536.

Then thing that I'm not sure I understand is that the only difference is the diameter. The pitch is the same between the 644 and the 536. Will the diameter make much of a difference, or should I just wait and spend more on a 856?

I did this swap (to 644), and the difference is quite nice. My boat has no trouble getting out of the hole now, even with a ton of people onboard and full ballast. Perfect Pass works better too.

I switched from the stock prop(?) to the 644 to the 856. The 644 is probably the best all around prop if you are running stock ballast and don't plan on surfing much. My boat always seems to have 1000-1500 extra pounds of ballast and that is where the 856 performs better. Simple question to ask yourself. Do you run more than stock ballast often, if so the 856 would be a better choice if you are willing to do away with top end speed. Probably took close to 5mph off top end.

The 644 gave my 211 a bit more holeshot over the 536 but for all around performance I prefer the 1160 over either, but I still barefoot so top speed is an issue. I still have the 644 as my current spare, I could be persuaded to trade you for the 536 if yours is in perfect condition? There are new props, the 1160 that I am now running and the 1234. The 644 is outdated, don't pay more than $200.

bmh, what boat do you have? The 1234 won't fit on the 210's. Or at least not on my 2001 SAN.

Yeah...I'm not sure the 1160 or 1234 will fit a 210. I believe the diameter is too big.

My '05 210 TE came stock with the 644. I agree with MNSuperAir above - the 644 is probably the best all-around prop. I dinged mine a little bit last summer. Fortunately, my dealer is on the lake, so they were able to loan me a 856 to save my weekend. I ended up buying the prop from him...I absolutely love it. I pull my brother on his slalom (@ 36 mpg), and I occassionally barefoot. At those speeds, the prop is really winding out. The hole shot is well worth it though, plus 90% of my time is spent at speeds less than 25 mph - usually wakeboarding or surfing. I don't really do any cruising.

In the end, it's really going to be your preference for your application.

Thanks for the help guys. I went ahead and ordered the 644. Got a great deal....$150. I found it on ebay. It was reman'd by leading edge sports. They are supposedly one of the few prop rebuilders that have all the actual acme prop blocks for the difference sizes. They said that this one had very little damage. Also, they completely polish them when they are done. I'll post some pics of it when I get it and my impressions in a month or two when it gets warmer.
