    Started right up!!! YeeeeeeHaaaaaaw.

Down here in Socal we may not winterize as well as folks in the north, but I live in the high desert and we had a pretty good cold spell this year. Luckily I got worried and made sure everything was adequately drained before the month long cold snap. Stuck a light in the engine compartment for that time too, worried about the water pumps as I had not pulled the tubes or filled it with antifreeze.

So we are gonna have 80's this weekend and so it was time to put all the plugs back in, clean her up a bit, change the fluids, check the trailer hubs and tire pressure, and head to the lake.

Put 10 gallons of fresh gas in her, attached the garden hose, hit the button and heard the fuel pumps going, then fired her right up with no problems. Checked the motor over to make sure nothing was spitting water from the cold weather, good to go. Changed the oil and she is ready for the weekend. Will change the trans on the lake so I can get it filled to just the right level.

So what I am saying is what a **** good motor that excalibur is. Knocks a little bit on cold start til the oil get's going, the V-drive leaks a tad, but it always fires right up and runs strong. I was pretty happy last night seeing the SANTE running and it made me remember why I got into a Nautique. Sure you will have to look after a trim piece here or there, a dead glovebox shock, maybe replace a heater core and some crappy digital gauges, but the hull is rock solid, the engine is as good as it get's, and we all know about the wake.

Gonna head up to the mud puddle, dunk the boat, take our new lab puppy swimming, and wakeboard until I am so sore I can't lift my arms!!! Summer right around the corner.

Hello, be careful, check the transmission oil a few times. The transmission cooler is made out of weak brass, and it is pretty exposed. It is one of the most likely things to fail due to freezing. Luckily, it is not expensive and easy to replace. Just keep an eye to make sure no water is making it into your transmission or no transmission fluid into your cooling water!
