How to read perfect pass total hours wtih motor off?

I have a 2003 21' Team Ed with the Perfect Pass.

How do I read the boat's total hours on the tach? The digital gauges dont when I have the ignition on and motor off.

    Thanks, Eric.

Perfect Pass doesn't. It just count is own hours. So when the engine is running (above 600rpm, PP also get the tacho signal for rpm) the PP starts counting. The tacho gets it hours from the engine management computer. So there are 2 seperate hour counters on a 2003 TE.

So where is the other engine hour meter and is it mechanical? How do I get the engine hours with the engine off when the boat is in my garage?

      Thanks, Eric.

Sorry for the confusion: 1 hour meter is the tacho, which gets it's hours from the engine management. The other is the PerfectPass, which gets it's hours from the tacho signal.

For viewing your hours: Just press your startup code, press start once, and press start once again (don't start the engine, just brievely push the start button). In this way the dash is on and you can view the hours on the tach or perfect pass.

          Thanks for the help,

So if I briefly push the start button, the engine wont start.

          Eric.

That is correct If you dont crank the engine over it will not catch so just tap it.

even if u screw up, its not gonna hurt ur engine to turn over a couple times in the garage

I think there is a scanning tool out there that can plug
into an engine connector that will give you a full diagnostic
history of the engine, including the hours. I think it will
show information like ignition cycles, time spent at certain
rpms, and the list goes on. Might be over the top for you
now, but it is nice to know you could get that information.

Can the scan tool be purchased for a reasonable amount of money, and if so where?
