    Cleaning engine

Peeps, I've just bought an '04 SANTE with ZR6/closed cooling. The boat has spent one season (6mnths in UK) on the sea and is in very good condition - the previous owner was real good with washing down externally and had a mechanic attendent to the engine etc. There's the odd little bit of TLC it needs in places but other than that it is great and as he was very very motivated to get into a cost deal on an X1(why?!) I got it for a song.

Bottom line is I want to clean down the engine before attending to any small rust spots (I haven't found any yet) and spraying up with silicone spray.

So, what is the best process to follow for cleaning down the engine - I had thought about spraying with degreaser and then using a foam jet/power washer, being careful of electrical areas. Advice/guidance much appreciated!!

I will also be giving the whole interior of the boat a full on jet wash to try and wash out any salt that may be kicking around ... tips also appreciated here!

    Thanks
    Matt

You "should" only use msg products and 303 spray on your vinyl. I would recommmend taking the side panels off etc and spraying the msg vinyl cleaner on it., agitate with a brush, and rinse with water/rag. Here is their website http://www.marinespecialtiesgroup.com/

Thanks, on my vinyl I use something we get here in the UK called Decosil - it is a vinyl and leather cleaning (red) gel that you mix with water. A vinyl trimmer told me to use it and it is incredible. Same cleaning process as you describe above.

Anyone help on the engine cleaning side?
