    Oil draining

Hello, I have had 2 CC Martiniques among other non CC boats and they were all inboards. To change the oil, I just got the hose out through the center drain plug and drained all the oil with no problem. Now I have a 210 with basically the same engine (351W aka GT40), and I took out the hose through the transom drain plug (only one in the boat) and the oil barely drips, it goes extremely slow. This was right out of the lake, after riding for like 2 hours (yes, the water was still cool at 55, but we could ride without wetsuits, and nobody else around so we could try to drain the oil right out of the lake).
So, I had hot oil, and it still drained very slowly. I think that I was not able to drain out more than 3 quarts. That means there are about 1.5 to 2 quarts of old oil left in the engine. Has anybody had this problem before with the v-drive boats?

yes, total pain in the rear on mine, takes hours...... I have a manual suction pump (named Linda) and I get a lot of it out through the dipstick tube first. I think I am going to get an electric one (Monica). I had the 351 in my BFN V-drive and did not have this problem......

Did you remove the oil fill cap? That's the part I always tend to forget, ending up with some suction and slow flow when I do.

You probably have a bend in the hose restricting flow. Check tight below the oil pan. just back it off and the flow should increase.

          RE: Oil draining

Hello, well, thank you for all the fast and informative replies. I had taken out the oil fill cap, actually , i even forgot it on top of the engine at the lake and now I have to go look all over the bilge to figure out where it is :-P
I called a friend who has a 210 and he reminded me how we used to do it on his boat, we put a hand pump at the end of the drain hose and just suck out all the oil. I went, tried it and it works, now I have over 4 quarts drained, so that should be fine. I am going to do another oil change pretty soon anyway, oil's cheap, engines are not. Not only they are not cheap, but they are a pain in the neck to get out of the boat/car/truck to rebuild them (been there, done that).
          So that's my ¢2

when i change my oil i let it drain for like 24 hours............it takes that long to get it all out, or get the pump, it does it in minutes.
