    paddle wheel leak

My paddle wheel seal is leaking.

    Should I

    a. try and use silicon sealant on the inside?
    b. silicon sealant on the outside?
    c. Remove and reseal the whole thing?
    d. take to dealership and have them do it?

    RE: paddle wheel leak

Dave while it is out of water take the wheel out from the top. It could be leaking from the o-ring on what pulls out or it could be leaking from the mount glued to the hull. If you need just an o-ring and you received the plug that goes in when the wheel is pulled just switch o-rings. I have one can give use you while you wait for a replacement. Give me call.

I'm guessing the O-ring is shot, or twisted up; either way check that first. After that I'd say just throw some non-hardening silicone along the o-ring line on the inside.

If its leaking through the paddle wheel you can easily remove it while the boat is out of the water by pulling the pin and pulling it up into the boat. There will probably be 2 orings. PP will sell you a rebuild kit for under $10.00. Also get some waterproof grease and lightly lube the orings and twist it as you reinstall it. If you use silicone you will never be able to get it out again.
