    replacing windshield '86 2001

yeah, so after going two seasons with the windshield sitting in the shed, i've finally gotten off my butt and decided to install it.

Problem, the glass that nautique sent me is fairly straight, and the frame of course has a good curve to it. so my question is, how much flex does the glass have? i'd hate to shatter the new glass if its the wrong one and end up having to buy two windshields.......

The glass will bend into shape. My windshield has a good curve to it, but when disassembled the glass is flat.

Yep. Its 1/8th inch tempered glass. My 83 uses the same flat glass and it will bend to fit. The glass is thin and will bend more than you think.

Its hard to believe it'll bend but it does. Take your time, get someone to help that has a little experience. My bro-in-law helped me, was a 2-man job.

            RE: replacing windshield

i got it in the frame today it was a sight to see though. i live in an apt. right now, so work space is limited. its either in the hall, on the balcony, or in my bedroom lol. i tried leaning it up against the wall in the hall and bending it a little bit as i put the top frame rail on, but that was not working very well, so i ended up laying it across some pillows stacked on my bed and bending the glass across the pillows as i put the rail on (praying the entire time that i wasn't gonna be sleeping in glass tonight lol) anyway, after i finally worked the thing on, i realized that the rail wasn't quite centered. i wasn't about to pull that thing off again, so i took a big breath and brought out the rubber mallet......its on and centered and still in one piece......don't ask me how lol
