gasket material?

Removed the Heater form my boat. The brass fittings that I removed from the motor for the heater the fittings had some sort of
Gasket goop on them that helped them seal. I was wonder if any of you knew what the material or could sugest a good sealant

I would recommend Teflon pipe sealant. It's available at any hardware store that sells plumbing supplies.

I had made some gasket last fall and so far no problem, that can get easy from electric material or hardware shop. ask them gasket paper,they sell by length. sorry I don't know what is that material.
