    Zerk fitting for rudder

I have a '95 SN and want to add a zerk fitting to my rudder box. I've seen the pictures of how to do it, but need to know the size of zerk I should use. I went to ACE and there are 2 different sizes, one is 1/8" pipe thread, but that seemed like a large dia. The other is a 14/28? thread, the overall dia is about 1/2 of the 1/8" pipe thread zerk. Does it matter which one I use?
    Thanks

Use a 14/28 in lieu of the 1/8 pipe. If 1/8 pipe is used, one must be careful not to run the tap too deep as end of zerk fitting could invade rudder shaft space. 14/28 can be installed with a little blue locktite, without concern for engagement beyond the rudder port wall.

      Zerk Fitting for rudder

Earlier Nautiques had grease fittings. I was thinking of doing the same to my 1999 SN, but you must first drill a hole into the rudder housing. That means you would have to remove the rudder shaft.
That also means you will have to repack the rudder box. That is why I back away from doing this. I figure this way; If CC thought the rudder needed a zerk fitting for grease, they would have installed one at the factory. Anyway, LOL
