    Perfect Pass Not Available!

I just tried to put an order in for perfect pass through my local nautique dealer and she called back because the people at perfect pass said the wakeboard edition will not work with my hull  I really am disappointed, I'm not sure what the specifics of my hull are that would cause this but it's a 2000 Pro Air. I then asked about the RPM version which they said that it would not be very steady and did not recommend it either. I thought that the RPM version worked well with DD models?

So then I thought I'd save some money and just upgrade my crappy digital gauges to the updated analog ones, but those use the paddle wheel too! What do I do???

    Thanks in advance your help...

I don't buy that!!! I was under the impression that PP could be put on any boat.

I would call Perfectpass yourself. That does not sound right at all.

If I could install perfect pass on my old 1984 Crestliner, you can install it on your 2000 Pro Air.

I will be absolutely floored if that is true that you cannot install PP on your boat.

When we ordered our 99' Air perfect pass was an option and we got it, pretty much the same boat as yours, ours was a TSC hull, assuming yours is a TWC could that somehow make a difference? Sounds crazy to me, give PP a call.

Might just want to tell the dealer to call PP again...

Yeah I have never heard that! You can put a PP on anything. Buxtons told you that??!!

PerfectPass doesn't recommend using the WakeboardPro w/paddlewheel on the TWC hull. This is because the vents and lifting strakes create a lot of "disturbance" which the paddlewheel doesn't like. This results in great speed fluctuation.

I had WBPro on a '99 PAN and in the normal location by the drain plug it worked like crap. We then plugged the whole up and drilled a new one by the transmission and that worked much better.

I think xlair is right. The TWC is a strange hull and you need to be carefull where to put the paddlewheel. But it should possible to install PP wakeboard pro. I have seen many PAN's with the paddlewheel.

I thought the same thing, so I'm going to call PP today after class but has anyone rode with the RPM version? They said it was not accurate enough to be worth it but I heard that it was only inaccurate with V-drives?

Bhog, yeah Buxton told me that, and since they are in business to make money I don't think they want to turn me away. I trust fully Buxton with my boat so I don't want to outright call BS until I do my homework.

The RPM version works OK if you do not need to make any turns, when turning you loose speed and usually need to adjust again once you straighten your line up.

I've just finished an install on my 99 Pro Air, and I got the same input from the PP people. They probably are frustrated by trying to make it work on the TWC hull. I did speak to them, and what they are trying to do is absolve themselves of the responsibility to make the system work perfectly on these hulls. When I talked to them, they said the location BEHIND the drain plug worked better, this is on the center line of the boat.
It's funny that you mention Buxton's as not wanting to sell you the PP. When I was asking the CC customer service people in Orlando where the best location would be for the paddle wheel, they called Buxton's! I also called Buxton's and got someone in the service department, and he told me they worked fine when mounted on the center line. You will also want to search on here, as there a few people with TWC hulls and PP, some said they worked great, others complained about speed wandering, but if I can keep it within 1-2 mph, that will be better than anyone I've had drive the boat so far...
I'm hoping to get mine in the water soon, I'll give you a performance report when I do.

Hey, frymantcu...what gauges did you use as replacements? I've got those digital gauges which have been replaced once and the backlight on one of them has already gone out.
