My bunks' carpet (not sure if that is what it is called), on my '02 Ram Lin trailer is starting to wear through. From what i can see, it is just stapled on there. Is that how it is attached? What material is the best for replacing it? Is this a job that takes more than a few hours? Doesn't seem like it should take that long.

Linebacker55 -- I did this exercise two seasons ago and it took me about two hours to tear off the old carpet, cut the new carpet and then staple it on. Lowes carries black, 16oz Daystar marine carpet that looks identical to what was on RamLin trailer. Be sure to use stainless or monel staples so they won't rust.
I took my boat to the ramp, launched it and my girlfriend anchored it and read a book while I did the work in a shady area near the ramp. Went w/out a hitch except for the first time I launched with the new carpet, the boat shot off WAAAAAY early due to the slippery new fabric. Luckily that was only a one-time shot and it now launches w/out incident with just a little more friction.'08 Super Air Nautique 210

Wetting the bunks before you load your boat will really extend the life of the carpet. My carpet is 8 years old and still has a few more seasons on it. Good luck on changing it out, and let us know how well it goes.2005 Ski Nautique 206 SE, Acme 422, PP SG 8.0, ND Tower
