'03 san: Smart pod loses power while engine is running

While riding yesterday the smart pod on my boat lost all power while the engine was running (no button on the smart pod was working, not even the stop button). We drove back to the dock and flipped the main circuit switch off to "all off" then back to "all on" and everything worked fine again. Then the same thing happened a couple more times throughout the afternoon, we flipped the main switch off then on and it worked again.

What would cause this type of problem? Should I replace the fuse for the smart pod? But then again, if the fuse blew, why would everything work again after we hit the main kill switch? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    RE:

Is this a symptom of the smart pod going bad?

Also, I did replace the blower motor the day before this started happening, but I tested the blower motor several times before getting on the water and it worked like a champ.

      '00 Smart Pod failure

The similar problem began for me a week ago and is still occurring. Once reset the right side pod still does not work properly. One of the lights flicker but none seem to work.

        could be the main switch

It could be the main switch going bad. My pod wouldnt even come on . I foud out that those switches are not water proof. I took the old one apart and it had some water in it The switch is only 7.00$ at your local dealer. Thats my 2 cents hope it helps

ProPilot-I don't have the boat here to look, am I correct in assuming the switch is directly behind the keypad on the dash? Thanks for the input.

I would check my ground wires You may be getting a short or corrosion is causing it to short out.Take a jumper wire from the neg on the battery to the ground connector on the smartpod. See if that solves the problem.
