Don't know where I went wrong. Need to replace heater core

I thought I did all the proper winterization procedure. Drained block, rear ballast tanks removed, blew threw heater hose, ran antifreeze through it (and the entire system), YET....the heater still froze. Found out by running the boat in the lake, still on the trailer. Everything else is fine...thank god!

When running the boat on shore (with fake a lake attached), everything seemed fine. Water coming out both the prop shaft and exhast. I had the trailer at a forward angle so I didn't notice the bilge area filling up with water.

When it came time to put the boat in the lake, the bilges ran the whole trip to the ramp (3 miles). I knew something was rotten in Denmark, but was hoping the hard rains we had were to explain for the excessive amount of water in the boat.

With the boat still on the trailer at the ramp, but deep enough to pull water through the inlet, the boat ran fine and cool (as usual aroud 150-160), but after 5 minutes, water started running on the floor at the driver seat. Knew immedietly what the problem was.

Long story short, it's been suggested to take the core to a radiator shop and have the pipes replaced. Hate to nickle and dime a fix on a 50 K boat. Question is...will this heater core from skidim.com work for a 05 SANTE, 3 port heater (2 outlets below steering and 1above for defrost)? Obviously not smart enough to figure out what model heater I'm looking for.....

    Thanks for your help

I always install a set of valves on the engine, so that IF this happens,
I just turn the valves off, and no leak. Not only that, I can still go skiing.

Also handy on really hot days, I can run the heater as a fan, and keep a little cooler.

The original heater is a 2-port (200 series) heater from Heatercraft. So you can order the one you selected in the link and it's a 1-1 replacement. For $80 you're done.

      Good luck.

Laptom, last week I had almost the same thing in my 05 SANTE. Water was coming from under the panel and around the drivers seat. Took the heater out hooked it up to the garden hose and the core was leaking at several places. Do you know of anywhere in the Netherlands to get a replacement ?

What about taking the core to a radiator repair shop?

You must also be aware that Heatercraft has over the years changed the orientation of the heater hose inlet and outlets on the core, and as a result, some of the replacement cores will not fit without a lot of drilling out rivets, and cutting new slots

            Hi Willem-Jan,

I've no idea where to find replacement cores in Europe. I know some people which are just building them up with some autopart by themself. Perhaps look at some 4x4 websites. I know some 4x4 websites are using these for heating up their open 4x4's.
Otherwise I would just suggest to order it from skidim.com . I think Beragi is more expensive...

            Goodluck! Tom
