ZR6 idle

Guys, I have an '04 SANTE with a ZR6. When I try to start it, it simply turns over until I take it out of gear and give it the tiniest bit of throttle - as you can appreciet this is a big pain as I'm trying to press start at the same time as pressing the buttons to get it out of gear/throttle forward. Once started up it purrs at 500rpm idle after I've warmed it a little. My thinking is that the idle should be a little higher and that as the idle is set too low then this is the reason why it won't start up without the smallest bits of throttle.
Can anyone help/advise/had this before? How do I adjust the idle on the ZR6?

Possible neutral safety switch issue?

Thanks Jeff, but confident it's not the neutral switch on the starting - I've read the other post here and have had the starter motor/non-start/turn over issue before. this is that the tick over is genuinely set too low - it does start everytime but not unless i give it some gas like you had to on old school boats. once it is warmed up it will idle at 4-500rpm. i'm just not sure how to adjust the idle.

I think the idle is controlled by the computer on these engines. I don't believe you can adjust it.
