Cheap @$#% ski vest bled onto seat!

I bought a new ski vest that bled onto the white rear bench seat.
I've tried everything I can think of to get it off; vinyl cleaner, magic erasers ad-nauseum, bleach pen etc. It stubbornly resists all my efforts. Anybody have a suggestion how to get the stain off? I'm thinking of trying vinyl dye, but that's pretty scary.....

Yes, a cheap vest will do that after being wet and then sitting on a seat in the sun. One of my brother's children had a vest like that which ended up leaving a red stain on the engine housing. We tried several things, many of which you already mentioned, and they did get some of it out. Fortunately, the sun did the rest over time and you can't tell it was ever there.

I was out riding on Travis Moye's X-Star one day, and when we stopped for lunch, this guy left his board (a Parks, which had a totally black bottom side) sitting on the engine cover. When we got back to the boat a couple of hours later, the board had bled really badly onto the vinyl. It totally imprinted itself on there!! A couple of days later, the stain was fading quickly though, just from being out in the sun.

The same guy also broke one of Travis' tower lights the next day with the same board.

Had a name written with a Sharpie transfer from a vest to a seat bottom, Goof-Off got quite a bit off but it was time that ultimately erased it. You may want to give it some time before doing anything too drastic.

Actually, that story is from a couple of years ago. I haven't been this year yet, but I am heading down May 21. It is always a blast down there.

Before you take more drastic efforts, I'll second Jeff's comment regarding the sun. A passenger of mine wore a new vest on my boat that bled red all over the rear bench and sun pad. I used progessively more strong cleaners, starting with regular vinyl cleaner and eventually moving to bleach. None of them worked. However, next time out the sun dang near faded it all out by itself. It's definitely gone now thanks to the sun.

Actually, it's kind of scary thinking my skin has to put up with those rays that are hardcore enough to fade out vinyl stains. :shock:

You might want to try mid ohio marine/ nautiques. They went out of business but still have a ton of stuff for sale. I think they have a rear seat you might be able to pick up cheap. midohionautiques.com

Simple green got some stains off my seats last year when a girl's bright red tank top bled.

Let the sun do it's thing before destroying the vinyl with harsh chemicals.
