1999 water ballast fill up?

I just purchased a 1999 air nautique to replace my 98 snob. I have read the pwners manual but I m still not sure how to fill the water ballast system, it's got to be easy im sure. Thanks

on my 2000 super air. You have to make sure the sea **** valve is open. Then you make sure the vents are open to both ballast tanks. Then start the fill pump. I have level guages but I wait until I see water overflowing out the overflows.

Where is the sea valve and where is the switch for the fill pump?

The seacock will be directly in front of the engine (open the engine cowl) on the hull. To open, the valve handle will be in line with the pipe entering through the hull. The switch for the pumps should be on your dask to the right of the steering wheel (fill and empty switches).

Vent valves are located on drivers side just behind throttle on a little white panel attached to the bottom of the side wall. That is where the FILL/OFF/EMTPY flip switch is for the pumps. Vent valves are round white 1" diameter. Don't remember exactly, but I think left rotation is open and right is closed.

Open seacock, open vents, turn on FILL pump and drive around to reduce fill time. Mine takes about 10 minutes to fill in gear.

When filled, you will see water spurting from vents outside of boat near drivers seat. Close seacock, stop FILL pump and enjoy.

If the ballasts don't fill, troubleshooting should be pretty easy. Check pump operation, make sure valves are open etc...

2001 SAN Seacock Valve

I just bought an 01 san and was wondering what the valve in front of the engine did???? I have taken the boat out a few times and have used the ballast system every time and still have not been able to turn the valve handle in either direction......I am wondering if it might be half open/shut..... So far I have not noticed any excess bilge pumping or such.... Any help would be appreciated....

RE: 2001 SAN Seacock Valve

That valve in front of the engine is a lakewater inlet/outlet for the ballasts. It is a quarter turn valve. The handle only rotates 90 degrees. When the handle is parallel with the pipe, it is open. When the handle is at a right angle (90 deg) it is closed.
If you cannot turn this valve and your ballasts still fill ok, then my guess is that the valve is seized in the open position. This is not a problem unless you wish to empty your tank dry and run with empty ballasts. With this valve open, you will always force some small amount of water into the ballasts when in gear.
