Where should I look for broken impeller peices?

My boat is still running hot around 170-175....last year it was around 160.
So today I ripped into the waterpump, hoses and thermostat, and found broken peices of an impeller in the thermostat housing, now what is weird is the impeller I replaced this spring was completely fine, so these peices were in there all last summer not causing any overheating, crazy
Anyway, now the impeller peices are out of the thermostat housing and the motor is still running hot, so where else should I look for peices or problems?
    thks

Look at the transmission cooler. I beleive this is also after the pump.
