    2000 SAN Hatch lift issues

I have a 2000 SAN with the hatch lift that is controlled via up and down controls on the dash. I had my boat out yesterday and everything worked great. I had the boat loaded down with 2000 lbs. of ballast and a few times the wake rolled over the back transom and some water went onto the back seats when I was trying to get some begineers up. Everything still worked great when I ventured to the party coves for some drinks. When I got the boat home last night, I went to clean out the vest, handles, etc. and the hatch lift was not working. It makes a clicking noise at the ciruit breaker underneath the dash but the lift does not engage or raise up. I eventually pulled the rear seat out and got my stuff out so I made sure nothing molded in the lockers with all of the wet jackets in there.

Does anyone know what may be wrong? Did I possibly blow a fuse on the hydrolic lift or something. I checked the circuit breaker and it was not popped. I am concerned since the lift provides my only access into the lockers and engine compartment. Has anyone removed this hydrolic lift and just used the manual approach with the aid of some of the new non powered arms found on newer boats. Has anyone swapped out the single hatch and replaced it with a 3 part hatch found on the newer SANs. If anyone knows how to help me trouble shoot this problem than that is great or if you have any ideas or have swapped out your hatch then that information would be useful as well. Thanks for any help that you may be able to provide.

RE: 2000 SAN Hatch lift issues

    Watty -
There is a fuse (or at least there is in my 2000 SAN) located with the positive cable right at the battery that, as far as I call tell, is just for the rear hatch. It used to pop all the time in my boat until we went to a larger amperage. The water over the stern may have caused it to break or maybe it's time had come. The fuse should be in line right next to the positive battery cable.

I am also having a problem with my hatch lift. It will go up, but not come down. I have checked both fuses at the battery and they appear fine. I am going to check the relays tonight, if I can figure out which one it is. Any help is appreciated...

wakefun - I will check the battery fuse when I get home. I knew there was a fuse for the hatch lifter but I didn't know where it was. I will let you guys know if this fixes the problem and thanks for the pointer.

Ryan - It is hard for me to camp with two kids, one of them being 5 months old. How long does it take to get up to Rossevelt from Scottsdale? I may be up for a day trip with the boys and we could meet up with you guys. I saw your post on Wakeworld. I would be up for a camping trip on the weekend of June 15-17th when the family is out of town up in Denver though.

Service tech at Buxtons told me not to hold it down or up too long. He said it will cause the fuse to bust and you have to take the panel off by the drivers side to replace it. With that being said I not sure if that is true but i sure dont let it grind putting it down.

The problem turned out to be a loose wire at the connection point for the hydraulic lift. The black wire had come undone and I simply reinserted it and used some needle nose pliers to get it tight. I then spun the lift a bit to loosen things up and it fired right up. Thanks for all the help.

From CC, they are like $1200.

                  http://www.dcactuators.com/

You will need to dig around on there to figure out which is best for your boat. You need to know the stroke of the existing one, and consider the load, and vota/amp rating. My problem ended up being a fuse.
The $.12 solution to the $1200 problem. New ones from these guys are around $100-120.
