Ok heres the story, and before i begin i will let you know that i dont know that much about boats. I have a 2004 Sante 210. Last October i hit a stump in 34 feet of water. I tore the bottom shaft off and the prop was missing two blades. A real mess, about $4000 worth of damage. When i took it to the dealership for repairs i just had them winterize because it was close to the end of the season. This season i have put about twenty hours on it. The last time i was out i heard a clicking noise coming from the engine so i took it in again. The dealership is saying one of the teeth on the v drive rusted and broke off, telling me its going to cost another $3000. The boat was in perfect condition before the first accident. They say they didnt check the v drive after the accident, and since i have put twenty hours on it they are not going to cover it. I think im getting screwed. Anybody have any thoughts. any help would be appreciated.

Right now the dealer is guessing, they wont know until they take it apart. hopefully ill know tomorrow. the noise is not too loud, but louder in forward rather than reverse. couldnt feel any vibration, i went about 3 mph back to dock after i heard it , but the throttle was a little tight, as i push the throttle down to accelerate, i think that is another issue though.

V-drive problem
2004 v-drive should't have rust problem, the gears are souped with oil, more likely, the noise is come from the universal joint of the v-drive,this is the comparartively weak part (can change), if the bearing of the universal joint wore(even little bit),will make noise like you describe, if only not loud noise without other problem, use it without worry.

RE: V-drive problem
Go to a different dealer, you got shafted the first time, and they are getting ready to give it to you again. Repair cost should have been much less if there was no glass work.

RE: V-drive problem
I have a 97 SS. Hit a chunck of concrete that was at the bottom of the river on low tide while taking off from the boat ramp. V-drive developed a "knock" in both forward and reverse althoguh reverse was MUCH louder. You really had to listen to it in foreard to hear it. Took it to a local guy, as the closet CC dealer is 2 hrs away and boat is WAY out of warranty, and he told me the same thing. I called South east CC and ran it buy them, they also said that it sounded liek the main gear lost a tooth. That main gear is around $800., the entire V-drive has to caome apart to replace it so its A LOT of labor... almost 3k to fix.
HOWEVER... I talked to my insurance agent, told him what happen, $500 deductible and boat got fixed. Check with your insurance, see if they can help.Past: 82 2001
Present: 97 Super Sport / SAN
