    Bilge Pump Question

2003 226 appears to have bilge pump problem. bilge pump button light on panel works when boat is started, but bilge pump does not come on. When boat is turned off, the bilge pump light on the panel goes out and will not come on until fuse is pushed. Any ideas of how to fix? Not sure where bilge pump is located or how to get to it. Any help appreciated.

Seemed the motor of the pump get rust and stuck, check the screen for clean and the impeller can turn freely or not, since the fuse pop down, you may have no connection problem.

Located the bilge pump. Red plastic cover appears to be melted on one side and had a hole in it. Water had got inside the plastic cover and was probably shorting. It works now, but does not automatically go off when water is pumped down. Isn't it supposed to automatically shut off if no water to be bilged?

The pump is on a timer internally. It should pump for about 2 minutes after its dry and then come on for 2 seconds every 2 minutes. If it feels water backpressure it will stay on as before.
