Boat just doesn't want to wake up from winter???????

The maiden voyage a few weeks ago I noticed the PP and blower both didn't work and the boat seemed sluggish. I replaced the servo to fix the PP but my boat is still slow out of the hole. Last fall during winterization I replaced the fuel filter and fogged the cylinders. I am planning on replacing the cap and rotor tomorrow. Anyone have any other ideas as to what might be wrong? Still have the same tank of gas in the boat. Throttle is going to full throttle.

The gas is old, I had the same problem last year. We tried to ride the first day out but the boat lagged and felt like it had no energy. Filled up the tank with Premium (about 5 gals or so) and she was back to ripping!

Check the fuel filter to make sure the gas did not gel and plug it up.

Just replaced the gas, cap and rotor, and checked the firing order and still no luck. It start and idles great. It sounds like it has plenty of power if you rev it up in nuetral but under load it has no power. An example, I have an 856 prop and the boat has a slow hole shot. Last year that prop would rip your hands off.

Thanks krs, I will check that. I am also going to replace the plugs. Need to do a search to see what plugs to buy. I thought they were autolite 864's but I will check.

The other thing you might want to try is a bunch of carb cleaner. If the fogger gumed up the floats and seats it could cause a sluggish start. Did you check the accelerator pump??? I have had those things dry out over the winter months and not pump enough fuel into the carb at fast acceleration.

I only sprayed the fogging oil in each cylinder not through the intake. I was told that fogging oil through the intake on a gt-40 is a bad thing. What and where is an acelerator pump. Sounds like blinker fluid to me. Do you have a pic that you could describe how to check it? Thanks

Not sure on your carb, but on my old holley there was a small accelorator pump that when you pushed the throttle down it shot an extra amount of fuel into the barrels. If it is there, it would be a small push rod on top of the carb that gets depressed when you open the carb up. Should be close to the fuel intake. I would go over the Perfect Pass system with a fine tooth comb. If you had problems with it not working then replaced the servo motor, I bet it is still a problem. Inspect the PP throttle cable and be certain it operates fully with PP on or off and very smoothly.

I think the power valve was something else. I remember replacing it when rebuilding the holley carb on my '91. I believe the item in question is indeed called an accelerating pump. It is supposed to squirt a extra dose of gas into the carb when the throttle is pressed forward. Supposedly this helps remove the hesitation and smooth out the transition from idle to power.
