I have a 07 211 and when I took it out this year the water temp read somewhere around 68, but in April I knew it was not that warm so the next time I took it out it read the same, but I brought a thermometer so I dipped it in to the lake and got 48. Later that day I called the dealer and talked to him about it and wondered if it could be calibrated. He looked in to it and they told him the Gateway had to be changed out, so we got the part and changed it out, and it still doesn’t work. In the mean time they have received 4 more boats in and out of the 4, 3 of them are not working right. They are looking in to the problem. But in the mean time I thought I would see if any one else has noticed this problem, and have found the fix.

RE: Getting wrong water temp readings
The PP, and Faria gauges all run in to the gateway and go out from their so I would say it gets the same signal, but my PP read out does not have a temp reading on it and not sure I have ever seen it that way the temp reading is in the Faria gauges.

RE: Getting wrong water temp readings
You should be able to get temp readings displayed on the PP going through the menu. I would be curious if it is reading the same as the Faria display?

RE: Getting wrong water temp readings
I have an older boat and I am assuming your problem is related to the perfectpass temperature sender in the PP paddle wheel. If this is the case then it is likely to be the paddle wheel / cable at fault. My PP display ready a constant 37 deg. The following is an extract of an e-mail sent to me by perfectpass in trying determine the problem.
"The temperature reading is produced by the resistance between the BROWN wire
and the WHITE wire. The WHITE wire is connected to ground therefore making
the resistance between BROWN and ground the water temperature. If you cut
the BROWN wire you will disable the (perfectpass display) water temperature without affecting the
speed reading of the paddlewheel."
Please disregard this post if you have a separate temperature sender unit.2010 Ski Nautique 200 Team Edition Open Bow, Radar Strada

RE: Getting wrong water temp readings
Mike
I have the Wakeboard Pro version of PP and I have gone through the Operating Instructions booklet and can not find any thing about getting a water temp. reading through the PP.

I guess before I go cutting any wires, where it is under warranty. I will wait until my dealer says to and let him do that.

I found what you are highlighting, but does it need to be in the water to get a temp reading, if no, then it doesn't have that feature. I guess it would have helped to read the whole manual and not just scan through it and mainly looking at the bold lettering. Thanks

Am I the only one that worries that my boat is lying to me about the water temp? I really like to know what I’m getting in to. Their has to be others out their that are having this problem, when my dealer has 4 boats now that have this problem. Are you going out and checking them? If not maybe you should, so we can get CC to see the problem and get it taken care of.
They have called West Cost CC and they are not aware of a problem, so today they were going to call CC directly to see what might be causing this problem. They said their is a sensor t’d into the water pick up, and that is where the Faria gauge gets it’s reading, but I can’t find it. They are probably going to get a new sensor and try that. But I think you all need to go check your boats.

I too have noticed the error in water temperature...I verified this with an iR thermometer. The boats temperature gauge reads about 6 - 8 degrees warm. One early morning I was sitting in the boat listening to the radio waiting for my ski buddies .. I decided to compared readings before starting the engine. The readings were identical! This leads me to assume the engine heat is the cause of the discrepancy. I plan ... someday to insulate the paddle wheel / temp sensor and see if the reading stays true.. I'm thinking a Styrofoam will suffice for test purposes..

What year is you boat? If it is still under warranty then we need to take it up with CC, and get them to fix the problem. I talked to my dealer today and they are sending a new sensor to try. But like I said before It is one that goes in to the water supply line and I can’t find a T anywhere in the line. I guess we will see when it gets here and we try it. I’m being there guinea pig right now so when we find the problem then they will know what to do with the other boats. I would like to see how many others are having this problem also. Mine doesn’t change with starting the engine.
