    Battery charging

My battery only seemed to last about 3 weeks after I installed it new. I thought it was maybe a bad battery, so I swapped it for a new one again. Well 3 weeks later its dead. I was able to charge it up at home, so its still ok.

Now, where to start looking? I tightend the alt belt, it was a little loose. Can one of the auto parts chains check my alt for proper operation?

BTW I dont have a big stereo, just the stock deck and 4 speakers. We arent running the heater this time of year, and never had any problems previosly. The last battery was 5 years old, any suggestions?

    Thanks

    RE: Battery charging

Yes, any autoparts store can test your Alternator. If you need to replace it you need to go with a Marine unit as they have special spark arresting screens on them to keep sparks out of the bilge. I would check you bilge pump. Is it operating all the time? Also is there an amp draw due to a short in the dash? I always keep mine on a trickle charger in the garage to make sure the battery is always topped up.
