    Limp Mode

I searched the previous threads and saw conflicting information so I'm seeking new opinions.

The water strainer in my 2006 206 cracked and the engine went into limp mode (never got above 170). I replaced the strainer restarted and the temp, oil pressure was normal. The engine remained in limp mode.

One previous thread said the dealer is the only one who is able to get it out of limp mode and another thought disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes would work. I disconnected for 10 minutes (to no avail) before reading the message.

    Any input would be appreciated!

Are you getting a warning light in the gauge or is your main red light on that is in the center of the dash? It is possible that you tripped a code in the computer but I don't want to say it is that without knowing more.

No unusual lights at all just the quick light during start-up.

Upon further review it's not in limp mode. Apparently limp mode won't start until closer to 200 degrees and I never got much about 170. I couldn't get it faster than trolling speed and limp mode allow more.

So we are speculating water in the fuel. Our next step is to drain the FCC. Your thoughts are welcome...............

Update........... Gas appears to be fine, temp is fine starts up and sounds great.

Latest speculation is that it's something in the TBW that is not allowing the throttle is anything over trolling speed.

Replaced Potentiometer that attaches to throttle at motor, no luck.

Once again symptoms are that it starts seems to run great at idle, but then you push throttle forward can get beyound trolling speed. Very strange. Has this happen to anyone else? I'm desperate for opinions.

Disconnect Perfect Pass and see f that makes a difference. Also there was a thread earlier that showed that the spacing of the throttle cable with PP was critical.

                      Hello MHcrossfan,
Sorry to hear of your difficulty, have you been back to your Dealer for this problem?
I contacted our service Dept. and they suggested a dealer visit first but a best guess online service diagnosis is as follows:
"Sounds like he is not getting any throttle. This would be something in the electronic throttle. Have him wiggle the wires at the tach module. Should also check for moisture in the connector. Have him advance the throttle just a little before starting, then see if it takes gas. Make sure he is in neutral when doing so. If everything works then, the sensor is out of adjustment"
Hope this helps, go see your Dealer, they should be able to assist.
                      Thanks,
                      Roy

Thanks Roy! Finally got it to the dealer yesterday. You are correct about the lack of throttle. He could manually rev it with the rocker arm and acutally get to work on it's own but intermittingly would not work as well. He suspects it is the throttle (servo or Service motor?) He is confirming with pcm and hopefully ordering the part and having it in for this weekend. He said it's the 1st he's seen with this issue.

I know its been over 10 years but was the throttle servo the fix? My boat is doing the same thing but if I turn it off and turn it back on it normally works fine for the rest of the day.
