Problems with Electric Motor on '93 BFN Sun Deck

Has Any one had problems with the electric motor that raises the sun deck / motor cover on a '93 Barefoot Nautique or Nautique Excel? The cover will not raise by itself (most of the time) unless you assist it with your hand (it will go down great! ). It's as if the motor is just not powerfull enough to lift the load. I have had the motor checked, installed larger gauge wiring, and even installed a new 900 CCA Gel battery, and nothing seems to help. :x (Sometimes, while under power, it will very slowley raise the cover, but not always.) Does anyone have a cure?

How about lubricating the runners/ screw. Any grease that old must be really dirty/sticky.

How do you access the runner or screw mechanism inside of the shaft? It looks like a sealed unit to me, but I would like to give it a shot. :???: I've tried everything else that I can think of. Anyone have any diagrams or pictures?

Fixed IT! Bad crimp in the two red power leads going to the toggle switch. Not letting enought "Juice" flow! Works like a champ now. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I had this exact problem in my 92. I never did get it sorted out. I just started the boat to raise it, and it was a little quicker that way. Wish I would have looked at it further. I had another issue with it in that it got bound up in the lowered position once. My brother ripped it apart and, as I remember, had got wound down so tight it jumped part of a thread and seized.
While that thing does have a huge lid compared to the newer SAN's I think the new jack screws have way more power to through them.
