The use of the RV "wastegate" keeps the bags from filling while running, and you don't need to close the ball valve to accomplish that. If you don't mind opening the engine cover, or you can get to your ball valve, then you can open and close the ball valve as needed. The RV gate only requires a dpdt switch (momentary) and small gauge wire to work, so far so good...
