    Rainwater in the fuel?

The dealer just called and is suspecting there is rainwater getting in my fuel tank somehow. Anyone have this issue before? I have an 02 SAN.

They drained the tank Friday, due to water, refilled cleaned the fuel system out then went to the lake. Sunday it rained like **** here and just for grins, they took it back to the lake prior to calling me to come get it. The boat wouldnt run so they rechecked. Water in the fuel again.

I keep it covered but I dont have the ability to store the boat inside. Any ideas where the water could be coming in?

    RE: Rainwater in the fuel?

Rainwater gets into my tank thru the chrome circular vent for the fuel tank.I think that the design of it is wrong and shd be replaced with the shielded type like those one the older nautiques( 93 SN and 94Sport)
If yr boat is in California, then the factory vent is fine but in my hometown of Kuala Lumpur, we had 75mm of rain in 4 hrs one day last week ( freak event causing half the city to be inundated with 3ft of water)
What i do as a makeshift measure is to stick a decal over the top half of this vent.

If rain keeps entering the tank, we end up with more frequent fuel pump and filter changes.

We've certainly had our share large amounts of rain. The boat is still at the dealer but I appreciate your idea. Anything is better than what I've dealt with the last week.
