    220 Tower Connection

I have a 2006 220 and have found that the tower connection is very substandard. It consists of a spring-loaded/palm style bolt that bolts the tower into place upon folding it up. So far, I have sheared three of these bolts at the location where the shaft meets the machined threads. Has anyone had this same issue? If so, have you found an acceptable solution to this problem? I just got back from a Powell vacation where two of these connections sheared in a one week period.

Advance thanks for your replys. So far this is the only flaw in this boat that is worth mentioning.

    RE: 220 Tower Connection

I have an 06 210 - it has the same bolts/knob - I have sheared one of them twice - pain to take it down for warranty - I had dealer remove the spring but leave the "C" clips to retain the bolt when backed out - when I trailer the boat I back them out - the weight of the tower wants to sway when trailering - since there are several mounting points that are not the older welded style the tower has a lot of movement on the road - I sheared the two in the first couple of months - have yet to have a problem since backing them out for the travel to the ramp. Have the mounting bolts tightened as well - dealer was able to get a full turn on the nuts - that seemed to help with the movement during travel as well
