    2001 Super Air wire question.

I think my buddy (CAR) is to embarrased to post this question so I have to post it for him. Now that that is out of the way I need help or I mean he needs help.LOL

Ok his alternator blew up. We took it out and had it rebuilt. He picked it up from the alternator shop hooked it up himself he got the Green wire and the Black ground wire backwards on the alternator. It cause some wires to melt and now his boat will not run.
He says it starts for a second and then die's (Like the lanyard is disconected). He says when he routed threw the wrapped up wire loom he noticed a purple wire that was melted.

What is this purple wire? is it the same purple wire thats connected to the lanyard/kill switch.

Where does this purple wire go? Just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to track this problem down and fix it.
When you hook you alternator up backwards what happen's
The main output of the alternator was hooked up correctley it was jsut the small green and black wires that got mixed up.

RE: 2001 Super Air wire question.

Grant, if you look on page 98 (8.28) in the 2001 Nautique Super Sport/Super Air Manual in the downloads sections of this site, you will see that the purple wire goes to the "Ignition / instruments / emergency shut off switch". It sounds ike it's going to be a mess going through the boat to figure out exactly what melted. Good luck to Caesar and yourself on getting that fixed!

When he told me he noticed the purple wire was melted and that the boat is shutting of just after it starts made me think it was the Laynard/cutoff switch wire. I agree its gonna be a pain in the but to figure it out.

Does anyone know what I can attach that melted purple wire to to complete the circut so that the boat runs
