    Number of cranks to start?

It's a slow afternoon, so I thought I'd ask a question thats been bothering me. I have a Pro Boss TBI (351) engine in my 94 SPN. It usually takes about 3 good key cranks to get it started. Is this normal for this engine? Once it's warm, it always starts right away. Also, I have seen some fuel injected motorcycles with a choke. Does this motor have some type of choke?

Forgot to add: I've done all of the regular engine maintenance this year. I replaced the plugs, changed the oil/filter, and replaced the fuel filter.

sounds to me like ur fuel is draining back down the line and ur having to "pull" it back up to the throttle body before it will start. this could be caused by a number of things, but my first assumption would be a teensy little air leak somewhere in the fuel system. a leak will disrupt the vacuum that would normally hold the fuel in place and allow it to drain away from the tbi.

as for the choke, i'm not sure about the TBI engine, but i would assume that there is an electric choke on the tbi

It seemed to have pressure at least up past the fuel filter. I replaced it a couple of weeks ago, after the boat had been sitting for about a week, and it had a decent amount of pressure in there. I have also tried to turn the boat off, then on about 4 times to make sure the fuel pump is priming the engine.

I guess I could check for pressure at the TBI area sometime. I hate to mess around with it too much, when the engine runs so good right now.

Yesterday I tried pumping the throttle a few times. It still took 3 cranks. I'm not sure if pumping it will do anything, since it has fuel injectors in the throttle body.

Maybe it has some form of electronic choke, that isn't working properly. :???:
