I have been lurking here for sometime and the information I have recieved has been invaluable. I found a 1984 SN2001 that has 380 hours on it for a decent deal. It has always been stored inside and is in great shape so hopefully I wouldn't need to worry about the stringers.
Would you be worried about the low number of hours on this engine? If I have a compression check done would it indicate if any of the seals were dry etc? I am getting my first inboard and want a boat that hopefully will be fairly reliable that I wouldn't have to put a ton of money in. I don't consider myself a mechanic but with a lot of the information posted on this site could handle a lot of the small things. Is there anything else I should be looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS - I am debating on whether to pick up this Nautique or a 1996 Malibu Sunsetter. The nice thing about the Nautique is that I could afford to pay for it outright where as I would have to finance the Malibu. I think the Nautique will throw a better wake, but I do like the open bow of the Malibu. I do think that they are both topflight inboards and can't wait to get one of them on the water! Thanks in advance for any comments!
