    Piping in Sacs to Factory Tanks

    Hey... Has anyone ever "pipped" in sacs to the SAN factory tanks? I have two sacs in the rear lockers that I would like to add, but haven't done it before and don't know anyone who has.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Turb - I know that this can be done, but the draining is an issue. You will have to get separate pumps to drain so at that point you might as well do a complete new system. Catch me sometime, I can make several suggestions. We are going to be building a ballast system for ODB's Nauti soon, and Cash has got a whole new system in his.

      Cool... I will do that... I have to make some trips up to Lanier soon to teach a friend of mine's kid how to ride. Will probably be in the next couple of weeks. I'll PM you on Wakeboardatlanta once I figure out when.

        I've done it and it works pretty good. Not flawless but, pretty good.

        I tried to tap into the overflow plumbing but, found that the overflow is just that only an overflow. When you put any backpressure on the plumbing you end up pushing water back out the empty pump so, you never fill the sac.

        What I did was tap into the fill pumps by putting a garden hose variety "Y" with the little on/off levers on them and then plumbed one to the fat sac and then othe to the tank. Then I just open one side and close the other to fill either one of them.

        I then put a separate pump on the sac to empty and wired that up to relays and switches in the engine compartment for emptying.

        Problems I have with filling extra sacs.
        1.) slow to fill
        2.) hard to prime empy pump

        Problems I ran into retrofitting:
        1.) Can not fill both tank and sac simultaneously, really slow to fill both.
        2.) When plumping from the stock fill pumps to the hose "Y" CC uses a 1" tubing so, I had to replace the connectors at the pumps to 3/4" and go 3/4" all around (CC changes tubing size at the pump. from intake to pump they use 3/4" and then 1" from pump to tank. I figured that you can only fill as fast as your smallest tubing so, I stuck with 3/4" plus the fittings are easier to find ie Home Depot/Lowes/Ace. Don't know why they did this? Maybe to get people to think they are able to fill fast.)
        Also, had to change the fittings on the fill side of the tank, from 1" down to 3/4"
        3.) Then plumbed up a pump to the other fitting on the sac and pushed the pump back behind the tank so, it's out of the way. Then put the same "Y" connector on the empty side of the tank and my empty pump.
        I've had problems getting the aerator pump to prime, I usually have to step on the sac to get the air out of the line and prime the pump.
        4.) To help with filling I replaced the stock 750gph pumps to 1100gph pumps. (a whole new set of problems I occured here) I was able to do this but, probably restricted the line a little to it's full capacity but, still faster than the stock pumps.

        With my system, there is nothing thrown overboard to fill or empty. With the small little problems I have I can live with a semi automatic fill system.
