    Engine does not restart

Have an 84' 2001. Was on the Delta yesterday, and was cruising around for about an hour. Took my girlfriends littlen sister tubing. Engine was running great. When she was done, I turned off the engine to let her back in. Once she was in, I turned the key to get out of there but the engine did not turn over. In fact the there was no noise, nothing. The gauges worked, the stereo works, but no crank. Had to get towed back to the marina.

How in the **** can it go from running no problem, to not running?

    All electical connections were tight.

    Any thoughts?

That's where I'd put my money. Jiggle the throttle back and forth a couple times. Or you can put both wires on the same terminal of the safety switch located on the top of your tranny. Just BE CAREFUL. Your boat will start in gear this way.

I agree, happens to all of use once. Make sure the boat is in neutral and try to crank. If it is and doesn't crank then check the switch on top of the trsnny.

Neutral safety switch is out, so that wasn't it.

I tried by-passing the wires on the breaker switch on the motor - no go.

Really stumped on this one. Will let you know if I find anything out.

          Thanks

Is there a starter relay or solenoid on that year?
What is your battery reading? I have heard mention of low battery causing the ECU not to engage the starter but that is on a EFI and not your engine.
Checked the ignition breakers (again not sure if you have them)?

Have you tried jumping straight to the starter to verify it is working?

Have you checked the ignition switch? Throw a volt meter on the back posts and verify +12v at the ON position and a momentary +12v at the START position. I have had a faulty switch before.

            Keep the details coming.

P.S. If it is the same setup as my '90. I think the starter gets juice straight from the battery through a solenoid/relay. You should be hearing it "click" when you turn the key to START. Can anyone else confirm this? If you are not getting a click, the relay is not getting the switch input or it's toast and not engaging when it does. Jumping straight to the starter will narrow it down towards the relay or the starter or something farther up the line.

What do you mean by the "neutral safety switch is out"? If youre talking about the one on the throttle assembly and not the actual NSS on the transmission (2 red/yellow wires coming out of it) then youre not thinking of the right one.

Not sure why you fussed with the breaker. If it didnt pop, its clearly not the problem. If the NSS isnt at fault, look at the solenoid next.
