    Ram Lin Trailer

Somehow the steel setup that protects the prop and rudder of my trailer has come un welded? There is a center beam that runs parallel to the boat (under the prop and rudder) that was welded to the back of the beam that runs under the rudder (perpendicular to boat - lowest back beam) has come un welded. I know I can unbolt all of this in a pinch to use the trailer, but I don't want to do this.

Has anyone else had this problem. Also, is there a way to order a new set up.

1996 Super sport, original Nautique trailer.

    Thank you,

    Geremy

    RE: Ram Lin Trailer

    hmm,

I've never heard of that happening. A properly welded joint is normally stronger than the steel it's bonding together, I wonder if its a case of a faulty welding job. Is there corrision around the weld? only other thing I can think of that might induce that type of failure is repeatedly putting stress on the joint by backing up on inlines where you bottom the trailer out by accident or out of necessity.

Can you post a pic of the failure? I'd call your nearest CC dealer or Ramlin directly as that shouldn't happen.

If memory servers me the prop guard can be unbolted. At one time this now standard feature was an option. Take it off and have it re-welded at a competent shop. Sounds like a faulty weld but they should be able to tell you what is going on when they fix it. Shouldn't happen but it is an easy fix.

If you can unbolt it, Ramlin has this peice available with casters (at least for some of their trailers). Sounds like it may have done its job a few to many times. Anyway, if you drag the prop gaurd very often, you may want to take this into consideration. There was a post a while back with a picture of this setup.

          Thanks y'all.

It should be an easy fix, I will try to get it rewelded. It can be unbolted. I think that the problem is an overuse problem. The under rudder bar is quite scraped up. However, I would not expect this to come apart, but stranger things have happened.
