    Dirty Boat

I have had to do the unthinkable! I have had to leave my boat in sitting in the water for the last few weeks. I bought an old lift for my dock and had to use my boat trailer to pick it up. The lift installer told me that he would be able to install it quickly and that has not happened. So now I have the boat sitting in the water and the lift sitting on my trailer. My boat bottom is brown and dirty! The lake is fresh water. I have a few questions

    1. How do I clean it? Chemical?

    2. Will this stain the bottom of the boat?

    3. Is this killing the gel coat?

    Please help, Dave

Lysol TB cleaner and Peroxcide will make your hull white again. 3/4 Lysol to 1/4 peroxcide.
make sure to wax it up good when done. It worked great on a 2003 RLXI that had a stained hull.

I use a mixture of Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, and hydrogen peroxide solution, about 50/50. There are different types of toilet bowl cleaner, get the one that has hydrocloric acid as the active ingrediant.
Wear rubber gloves, and eye protection. The Lysol has a pretty smell, to appeal to the gender that generally is cleaning the bathroom, but it is hydrochloric acid.

What did it do to the stickers and rub rail? what kind of stains?

I have used Starbrite Hull Cleaner for several years. Works great and requires no mixing although I do dilute it down with fresh water.

              ski6,
I only used it on the hull and it was on a Malibu that has no stickers. I did not get near the rail, but I dont think it would hurt the rubber.
our stain was one big brown tint on the bottom of the boat from sitting on a lift for 3 years without being wiped off.
As for my boat, you will never see a stain on it, so there will be no need for that stuff. I get mad when I have water drops on my deck.
              Hows your skiing going?

I do not think the ratio has to be precise. I do try to keep the mixture off of any decals. It will also discolor metal.
