    Trailer jack

I have a welded on trailer jack on my Prestige trailer. It needs replacement, (dont ask). Has anyone ever replaced one? I see it has a large snap ring that should be removable and allow it to be replaced without welding...maybe.

If the down tube isn't bent you can dissemblt the guts fairly easily and just replace them.

The down tube is ok, its the wheel assemble and the bracket with the pin that is all out of shape.

Can I take a guess at what happened? You left the wheel down while towing and bent it all out of shape?

My money is skinautique. And the jack should be replaceable w/o welding/cutting off the plate with the ring assembly.

Hollywood is correct about using the snap ring to replace the tounge jack unless the mounting flange is messed up at the holes for the pin. If it is you need to have a welder cut it off and reweld it back on, also don't forget to protect the trailer wiring running thru the frame.

Ski your guess is incorrect, if you must know it is a new house, with what seemed like enouch drive to turn with my truck and pull the boat out of the garage. But it wasnt so I pulled it out by hand, and there is just enough slope on the drive that once it got going I couldnt stop......It almost pinned me between the trailer tounge and my neighbors fence. There is about a 3' drop after the drive to the fence. The keel lacked about an inch hitting the drive. Good thing it didnt, it was a stomach turning situation as it was. As it was going down the bank it mangled the jack and the pin mounting lock. I have a new one on the way, worst case is welding it back on.

I have some driveway contractors coming to see about enlarging and adding a curb.

I found a replacement at West Marine that used the same lock ring to attach it to the clamp that attaches to the trailer. Fit perfectly on my trailer. The dealer wanted $75 for the jack w/out the mounting clamp. I paid $40 for the jack at West Marine.
