    Key Ignition Problems

    1992 SN

The key ignition sticks to the right when cranking which grinds the starter after the motor cranks if not manually moved back slightly to the left.

Secondly, the key has become incresaingly difficult to even turn to start if not pushed in hard and hitting the "magical" spot.

How hard is it to replace the key ignition? I'm guessing it's just a matter of unscrewing, replacing and re-connecting to the wiring on the back. Am I correct?

Exactly what I was hoping to hear.

After posting, I called SE CC and spoke with Woody. He basically said the same and told me to go to NAPA auto parts and ask for a "Universal Ignition Switch - 3 Pole".

I just picked it up during lunch. Looks simple enough.

Woody said to be sure and disconnect the battery before swapping out.

      Thanks for the feedback!

Just like you said, piece of cake. Not quite 2 minutes but I'm slow.

Disconnect battery, simply remove the dash pod by removing the 4 screws by hand, unscrew the keyhole housing, move the wiring from each of the three posts to the new ignition switch one at a time making sure to match to the correct posts, remount key hole housing and then replace the dash pod.

        Piece of cake.

        Thanks for your encouragement!
