Just an update on what I have found so far, no luck convincing Teleflex to extend their warranty period, so as others have mentioned the only way to get the replacement gauges is through a reseller like West Marine (I have the speedo on order, the replacement tach I have in hand).

I spoke with NECC and their recommendation is to replace with the analog teleflex gauges.

Question - on the replacement tach/hourmeter, did anyone try wiring it up to a battery and leaving it for x days to roll on the correct number of hours the boat already has? Any wiring tips on what I need to connect to make this work would be appreciated.

I worry about when I ever trade it in that the hourmeter is 270 hours off from what the boat has on it making prospective buyers nervous about how many hours did it "really" have on it before the gauge was switched out.

    Thanks,

    JMO

Never mind - I figured it out, if you want to do this as well go to radio shack and for $2 you can buy a battery holder for 8 AA which puts outs enough voltage (13 volts by my multimeter) then just connect via alligator clips (also available at RS) positive to the terminal for the ignition and the negative to ground and it starts clicking away - 19 hours down, 251 to go

        good luck

        Hey wakesurfer,

On wiring the replacement tach, can you confirm my assumptions on the wiring:

        black: ground
        blue: nav lights
        purple: ignition
        tan: rpm

with ignition in the on position (engine not running) both purple and tan have 12 volts across them, I assume the tan will pulse the voltage once the engine is running.

        Thanks,

          Hey JMO,

the boat is all shrink wrapped for its long winter nap, so I don't have access to it to confirm the wiring. I'll have to pull out my owners manual and double check the wiring. I'll try to get back to you soon. I don't remember the tan wire.

No worries - I actually fired her up tonight just for a second to validate my wiring job was correct - which it is so I'm all set. Now onto snaking the pitot tubing for the speedo. I can't decide if I like the fact that the new gauges have a red backlight versus the blue the rest of the gauges have, at least it's symmetrical.

              New info for parts

So, after falling over at the price of the premier guages I engaged in a long email conversation with Teleflex tech support, after much back and forth we have arrived at the least expensive option. Part numbers are 57898P for the speedometer and 57897P for the tach/hour meter. The Premier Pro speedometer was not too bad but the Premier Pro Tach/hourmeter was 300-400 and special order, I wanted mine to match. The total for both gauges from West Marine is $170...can't beat that.

Check this thread. I did the replacement with the teleflex guages. They looked much better than the farias. My part numbers were 84310F and 84510F. The teleflex guage is a better guage in my opinion.

                  pythonsupersport,

Is there any way to calibrate the speedometer that you installed?

It is a Teleflex 0-50 style.
Who is member who fixes digital gauge? Mine works, but has a few pixels burnt out.

                    thanks
