I just purchased a 1994 nautique and was wondering how easy it is to change the oil. What type of oil do you recomend?

Depends if you have the remote drain on the oil pan. If so, warm up the motor(make sure you have adequate water), stick the drain hose out the hole in the bottom of the boat into something that will hold at least 5 quarts and let it drain for a couple hours. If no remote drain, get a suction tank(OiL Boy,West Marine, about $60, can also be used to change tranny fluid).
As for the filter, I use an old plastic bag over it after it has been loosened. Keeps from getting oil in the bilge. Pretty sure you have the Ford motor, takes a 1515 oil filter. Make sure you recycle the used oil.
I use 15-40 Napa oil, have for 16 years, never had any problems. Put 4 quarts in the motor(after replacing the filter), start, check for leaks, shut down & check oil level. Usually takes 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart more. Slightly low is better than high. Too high gets the oil onto the crankshaft and will foam. Oil pumps do not like foam.
