I have an 04 san team and cant seem to find where water is comming in from. When wakeboarding it seems like the water is comming from somewhere. Had the boat looked at by dealer and water tested and they said leakey ballast and they fixed it. Rudder port was replaced and prop shaft was checked! How much water is normal in the bilge while wakeboarding with ballast full? my bilge will come on automatically after about an hour or two. mabe just water comming over back of boat?

RE: water in bilge
Check the hose clamps on the exhaust and inlet lines and around the strainer. If steup right with water over the rail or wet swimmers you should have less than a quart of water per hour without swimmers or water over the side less than 1 cup.Nautiqueless in San Diego

RE: water in bilge
I could not find the leak on ours, it was leaking through cracks in the exhaust line, after the exhaust manifold. There is a 4" tube, looks to be made of fiberglass, had small cracks right where the rubber hose connects. This is on a 2001 direct drive.06 Ski Nautique 196 SE (2010)

RE: water in bilge
also read that there was a recall on the ballast valves on 03-05 sans. how much water could leak through thease valves?

Where can I find info on the ballast valve recall. I have an 03 SAN and just noticed last night when taking mine out that there was quiet a bit of water in the bilge when I pulled the plug. I drained for probably 1.5 minutes. I have never really had any problems with water in bilge so I normally don't pull the plug after every use so I was hoping maybe it was just water that accumulated over the last few trips.

Here's the info on that service bulletin, but that shouldn't be the source of your water in the bilge. The SB just addresses the tanks filling with the valves closed.
Select 2003 - 2005 boats may have leaking Flow-Rite ballast valves.
If you have a 2003 - 2005 Correct Craft with leaking Flow-Rite ballast valves, this bulletin may apply to you. Please see your local dealer for more information.

Thanks Jeff and as usual you are exactly right about this not affecting water in the bilge. I called my dealer right after posting my last message and said exactly what you did. I guess I will have to look it over this weekend when it is in the water and see if I can find it. I don't think it was engine water as the water was cool when it was draining out. Anyone have a good way to check the packing gland on a vdrive? Sure seems like that may be difficult to see and a likely source. Thanks

nickmainaris...How much for the dealer to look at the rudder and shafts on the boat? I think that I've got water coming in one or the other.

It will cost u the going rate of a test drive from your dealer! But u can do almost all the same thing the dealer is going todo first if you have the time. I belive that much water is not accectable if it were up to me! I finally figured out all my leaks and had the dealer repair them under a warranty . I found on my 04 san that the rub rail was leaking by taking a hose and spraying all arround the boat while some one inside the boat was looking up under the interior! I also filled the bildge of the boat fulll of water with the hose on the trailer and looked to see if leaking out of anywhere(ie.rudder, fins, water intakes, and shaft packing) Also fill your ballast on the trailer with a fake lake one by one and look for water in the bildge. My back tank was cracked and my belly drain pump was cracked! But my main leak was comming from the drive shaft where the black rubber boot meet the shaft right before the shaft goes through the bottom of the boat! Mine was really tricky to figure out beccause it would only leak(spray) water out at higher rpms. pulled the back seat cushions out and look behind the transmission while someone else was driving and finally figured it out! turns out infront of the black boot was a aluminum collor that was missing the set screws and water was comming in like that! also lay rags in the bottom of the boat in different zones and look which rag is wet after a short test drive! sorry to ramble on but just have way too much expierence at this!! good luck !

most likely water coming into the boat, or a leakey ballast,
good luck
