    Changing Starter on '05 ZR6 SV-211

All I can say is trying to change this starter makes me want to get rid of this boat! I cannot believe it is this difficult to change a starter; I must be doing something really stupid.

Anyone changed a ZR6 starter in a '05 SV-211 Team Edition? Did you take out the port ballast tank to get better access? I'm only 168 lbs. and I'm pretty skinny, but I couldn't even get to the inboard mounting bolt without doing some really gnarly fetal position yoga stuff. Then, once I got the ratchet on it, I have like 4 inches to move the wrench with absolutely no leverage, so it's still on there...I'm seriously going mad on this one, somebody please tell me there is an easier way!

I got the outboard bolt off, but the inboard bolt is another story. I think I may just remove the port ballast tank so that my shoulder isn't at such a painfull angle when trying to get to it. Anyone got any simple solutions to replacing the starter?

      RE: Changing Starter on

Dude, I have a ZR6 in an 'o4 SANTE. Diff boat I know but same pain in the ***! I removed the back seat totally so I could first lie on my stomach and get a number of extensions on the socket set so I could get a long bar to swing right underneath the sump - it is very tight and you will have to play about with all sorts of extensions to get it just right. Once it is moving a little bit you can then change position and reach through where the back seat was and down the side of the gearbox to get access to the bolt. This will give you a much easier access to get it off quickly. Be patient, you will find you get very very little movement to start with. Spray loads of 3in1 all over it/bolt. It took me and a mate over three hours to get mine off - try not to get frustrated with it. I've just got the boat second hand and the starter went pop second time in the water. Not happy with that privaste seller!!

            warranty issue

is this not a warranty problem. I believe my starter just went out? I have an 05 SV-211 Team with 200 hrs. Thought it was the batts but replaced them and it still does not turn over just a clicking sound?

Hey, sorry, my bad, there is no R130001 on your year engine. Call your dealer, could be warranty.
                Thanks,
                Roy
