    Ballast Drain pump (01 Air)

My ballast won't drain on my 01 Air (DD). I am assuming there is a second pump for draining that has crapped out.

Is it located under the rear tank? How the heck do you get to it? Do you have to pull out the tank?

    Thanks for any help

The 2 pumps are located in the engine compartment on the port side. To get to the second one, you may have to remove the piece of floor directly behind the engine.

          Canuked,
I can confirm MHayes locations. We have a '01 AN. The intake pump is below the FCC on the forward port side of the engine compartment. The drain pump is under the rear seat on the port side of the engine compartment next to the port exhaust hose. You can reach it from the round plate in the floor for checking the shaft/packing gland BUT if you plan to replace it, you are better off removing the clamshell then sliding out the entire floorboard behind the engine from under the rear seat as MHayes has suggested.
Whitelake has the replacement pumps. Otherwise a local marine shop might have it since it is an Attwood.

I replaced our drain pump this spring. System still does not work great so I am hoping to change to independent impeller pumps this winter and sell my stock pumps. Also you should listen for the pump spinning during drain as your problem might be the air valves instead of the pump. The whole setup sucks in my opinion. We cannot consistently get them to drain, fill or report the correct level most of the time.

Yup great boat balast system sucks. Any ideas for upgrading to a system that does not reguire a ESP to know if it is empty or full?
