Help Adjusting Perfect Pass Actual Speed..........

I need some help getting my Perfect Pass to read the correct speed. The boat came from CC with the Speedos and PP set to verify each other........ trouble is the PP read wakeboard speed as 6 MPH, Slalom wakes at 21 MPH and top speed (at 5400 rpm) at 31 mph (seems off 10-12 mph verified by GPS) ... So............. Looked at documentation and I can't seem to get it adjusted.

Did the speedo adjust from the menu in PP. Didn't seem to change registered speed.......... adjustments over 10 MPH jump back to original settings. I can't seem to get it reading correctly. What am I overlooking? I'm sure it is something easy! Any help would be great....

I think what you are looking for is on page 3 of the manual. (I have the Wakeboard Pro version.).

“Digital Speedometer (Calibrate Speedo) – If you feel the digital speedometer is not reading accurately, it can be easily adjusted via the “Calibrate speedo” feature in the menu. When “Calibrate speedo” is on screen, press the Up or Down keys and the boat speed will increase or decrease until the correct speed is reached.
Example: To calibrate the PerfectPass system to match the conventional speedometer reading, set the system at a desired speed (such as 18mph). Bring the boat up to speed and engage the system. If the conventional reads 19.5 (ad you believe it is correct) then you would to into “calibrate speedo” and press the down key numerous times until the boat speed dropped to 18 mph on the conventional speedometer so it matches the PerfectPass readout.

Let the boat speed settle for a few seconds to confirm accuracy.

(You will notice that the system may cause the engine to sound “nervous” in this mode. This is normal as long as the digital speedometer is holding to the 1/10 mph. This sound is the system anxiously awaiting a command to adjust.”

I usually ride behind my SAN or a friends Xstar and we used GPS to set both of our speedos accurately. This is the method I used to setup both of them. It takes a moment to figure it out, but once you do, it’s a piece of cake. Hope that helps a little. If not, let me know and I’ll run through it again next time I’m out.

That is what I tried.The boat did not adjust speed and the speed readout never changed after adjustment. Is there an enter or accept command needed. It is Wakeboard Pro (6.5 - I think)..... Frustrating!!

When your speed is set and you press the “Menu” button does “Calibrate Speedo” appear on the screen? I think if you press the menu, it will display that on the screen. Then you need to press the Up or Down arrows to adjust your speed accordingly. It should be real-time, there isn’t any “accept” option to lock it in. If you listen to your engine as you adjust the speed up or down, you’ll hear it change pitch as the speed changes. I think if you just press the up/down buttons it increments in +-.10 increments, if you hold the buttons down it moves much more rapidly.

Make sure you push the up/down buttons quickly after pressing the menu option, otherwise it switches back off of calibrate mode rather quickly. The first few times I did this I was only adjusting it in +-.10 increments, I also couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. I found out that typically you have to adjust it quite a bit more. I think my adjustments were around 1-3 mph. to get my PP to match up with my actual speed.

Also keep in mind that if you adjust it and it jumps out of the calibrate menu, when you go back in you are adjusting from the point you left off last time. Even though the counter resets to .10 increments, it remembers the spot you were at last time you exited. For instance, if the first time you tried it your speed was 21.0 and you added two .10 increments onto it, the next time you go in to adjust it, the speed will start adjusting from 21.20, even though the screen only shows the increments adjusting, not the speed.

Another thing to keep in mind, this change will still keep the speed showing on PP as the same as you have it set on. But as you calibrate PP it will get closer to the actual speed displayed on your analog gauges. For instance, say your PP reads 21, and your analog gauges read 23. You go into PP and calibrate the speedo -2.0 mph. When PP jumps out of calibrate mode, PP will still read 21.0, but your analog gauges should have moved down to 21.

Big: Every PP I’ve been around hasn’t been correct out of the box. Not a big deal, you can either adjust it or get used to riding at whatever speed is comfortable. The main problem it causes is when you go to a friends boat and their PP isn’t set accurately, you have to adjust speeds to find your comfort zone.
