Advantages of paddle wheel vs pitot tubes

We are replacing the original defective digital tach with a Fariah Analog tach but are thinking about retaining the original speedo which seems to be functioning ok. Our thinking is that this will give us a speed reading independent of the paddle wheel and a more accurate reading since it is a numeric read rather than a dial read. But then, we are thinking that the paddle wheel may be more accurate and we might be better off just using that and putting in the new Fariah speedo.

We would appreciate any comments regarding the accuracy and reliablity of one pick up versus the other.

We upgraded to Faria Analogues from the Teleflex and it's not that hard to read the speed. I regret not getting the paddle wheel because when we add perfect pass we will now have to install it then and the pickups for the speedometer are consistently getting clogged so it throws the speedometer off.
