Can the tachometer be adjusted to zero? My 96 Ski Nautique 196 shows about 400 rpms when the ignition is turned on but the engine has not been started. I have not pulled the gauge console out yet to look for an adjustment. Just curious if anyone knows. I don't want to go through the task if there is no way to adjust to zero.

I went ahead and pulled the gauge console and there is a calibration adjustment on the rear of the tach. Have zeroed mine. Will know if I have really corrected problem the next time I go out. :grin:1996 Ski Nautique

My 97 Super Sport tach varied by as much as 500 rpms at times. It was very intermittent. I replaced the tach and it corrected the problem for a couple of years then it started doing it again. I never looked into it, but I suspect it is a problem with a wiring connection. The grounds for the gauges are piggybacked onto one another and are prone to work loose. I fixed my temp gauge a few times just by tightening connections.
There is an adjustment on the rear of the tach.Comment
