Quinner, I think the no towing tubes from the tower is mainly due to the fact that if a tube or the rope gets caught on something, the tube won't "let go" of the rope (i.e. the tube is tied to the rope), while a skier or boarder will release the rope and thus relieve the tension.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

That's part of it. If the tube goes under water, the force put on the tower is incredibly strong. Also, if you swing the tube into a wave at speed while connected to the tower, you risk throwing the rider WAY up in the air to the point of being dangerous. I don't think I have seen it in the manual anywhere, but it is just a generally known fact that it isn't a good idea to pull tubes from the tower.

Thanks Guys, makes sense when pulling wild tube rides but I would think slow sane rides should be fine from the tower particularly if you keep the tube upright or if the tube does not have an open cockpit. Makes you wonder how often folks running I/O's pulling insane tube rides from a stern tow point rip those things right out of the hull?

Any thoughts as to which tow point would be rated for more weight and or pressure, the pylon or the tower?

I think the "generally known fact" theory goes back to the tubes of a long time ago ( as kids,we used large truck tubes with the 8 inch valve stem). All the new tubes have covered bottoms and plane almost immediatly so it is much more rare to get those big hits.
