So yesterday, I accidentally started the engine in my 03 SANTE and ran it for about 5 minutes while driving down the road. This was immediately after pulling out of the water and onto the trailer. If you consider yourself a family type person, then please don't ask how this happened, it just did. There needs to be an elbow guard or something over the start button. The point of the matter is would I have done anything besides possibly burned up an impeller? Anybody else accidentally dry ran your boat for a short period of time?

RE: Engine running out of water
Did you shut the engine down, or did it shut down by its self?
Replace the impeller. If the water pump body is not badly damaged, it may be ok. The exhaust hoses may be damaged, both the rubber ones and the fiberglass ones. Your muffler might be bad.
If the engine got really hot, you might have warped heads, or block.

I shut it down. The engine was warm, but not excessively hot. I'll probably just go stick it in the water tomorrow (carrying an extra impellar as a spare) and see how it acts.

RE: Engine running out of water
5 Minutes at idle, just a trashed impeller.
The oil will keep the engine cool enough at idle if not run too long.
Replace the impeller before running the boat again, and check for pieces in the trans cooler, but I doubt the will be any there as there was no water to move the burnt and broken pieces down the coolant lines I bet.

I agree. Go ahead and replace it before running the boat. It is much easier to get the pieces out before they get pushed through the system.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

Can't you code in and kill the keypad so you'd need to code back in to start the boat? Lesson learned...

We just did the exact same thing this weekend at Havasu. Boat got left on while putting it back on the trailer. I pulled up to the wipe down lane, got out of the truck and noticed the boat was still running. Looked at the gauge and it read normal. Figured I put it back in the next morning and watch the engine temp. Ran it at Idle in the Marnina till I got up to temp. and stayed there. I figured everything was fine. Got it out on the lake and it quit on me. It beeped and then I lost everything. The temp still read normal, so I wasn't sure it was an overheating issue. I'm going out right now to take a look at my impeller.

just pulled the impeller and it looks fine. I don' think I ran quite 5 min. though. Hoses seemed a little crunchy. Looked fine from the outside, but i'm sure they should be replaced. I'll change the impeller and keep this one in the boat as a spare. Now I need to figure out what's wrong with the boat?
The beep I heard I'm pretty sure was the perfect pass. I was going through some pretty good chop. Could something coming loose on the PP cause me to lose my ignition? There was also a wingnut on the floor under the dash, so I'm sure something came loose.

pulled the dash off and think I found the problem...at least I found out where all the nuts I've been finding on the floor go. Every single gauge had loose or disconnected wires.
I have a 210 signature, but It has PP and Balast. Who does this? The factory or does the dealer add these?

OK, so I dropped the boat in the water yesterday, and idled watching the temp gauge. Sure enough, it climbed straight up until the digital warning flashed and then I cut it off. I had a new impellar ready to go, so I pulled the old one and replaced it and then everything ran just fine. And yep, the old one was toast, as you can see. I'll be much more careful next time I'm in that position, err, I mean situation....

93Euro,
Perfect pass can be installed by the factory, or the dealer. If a dealer orders the boat with Perfect pass, the CC factory will install it, or it will get installed at a regional distribution center.
