    Perfect Pass-Running Servo Wiring

I'm installing Perfect Pass on my 98 SN and am looking for some advice on running the wiring from the servo to the master module. The MM is under the observer seat on the bulkhead. I've got the kick panel off and can see where the wiring is fed below the deck.

But is there any easy way to feed this back to the engine. There is not much room by the GT-40 to get a good look. I'm not even sure if I could get a wiring snake down there, and if I did, I can't see where to grab.

Anyone have any tips to make this easier? Thanks.

    RE: Perfect Pass-Running Servo Wiring

Yes, use the Throtle cable as a fish tape, it has enough slack in it.

Sorry to be slow, but how would I do that exactly?

It has about 4' of slack in it if you pull it towards the front of the boat. Then with some electrical tape, tape the wires (include the paddle wheel if needed) to the cable as far towards the engine as possible and pull back from the engine side. It works great, it may be hard to visualize, but if you start pulling on the cable you will see what I mean.

I think I get it. So are you telling me that that thing I just got aligned perfectly with no gap is my best bet for a wiring snake/fish tape? In other words, you're saying disconnect the throttle cable from where I just hooked it up.

Or are you saying that there is enough slack in it that I can just tape the servo wire to the middle of it and pull it forward?

          Thanks again!

Just gave the cable a bit of a pull. There doesn't seem to be much slack in it. If there is, it's probably zip tied to something along the way that's keeping it from moving like you describe. I can see how that would work great though.

            Any other suggestions?

If I remember correctly you dont need to disconect it. It will have enough slack if you tape the wire as far as you can reach, and then pull back it will just make it into the engine compartment. Then you'll have it made.

Not sure I have that much slack in mine. I'll give it another look. But from what I can tell, mine has about 6" of slack.

Upon second inspection, not nearly enough slack in mine to get the cable to the front.

That is strange, because the cc rep is the one that told me to use that method, make sure you have the throttle cable, and not the tranny cable.

After thinking about my response, I am telling you wrong, push the excess cable towards the front of the boat, or pull the cable from the throtle towards the front of the boat. I promise it works. Its not always easy to think about it if the boat is not in front of you..sorry for the confusion.

It worked great on my boat, and a friends MC also.

If you remove the raw water pump, you will have more room to reach forward from the engine compartment. You can also get a short fish tape from a local big box home building supply warehouse. If your boat has a heater, the heater hoses will take up a lot of room in the hole that goes into the bilge, forward of the kick panel. You can pull the hoses for the glove box drain to get some extra room.

Thanks again. I'll give the cable a pull from the front above the deck and see if I can find the slack.

Yeah, those glove box drains are really filling up space. I'd have figured they'd have put a T in the line and just run one drain to the bilge.

Well, pulled from the top and nothing is moving. At least not enough to make a difference. Pulled the glove box cooler drains and made a little room.

If you have a depth finder, take the cable off it under the dash, run a doubled piece of thin wire with it back to the engine compartment, cut the thin wire in half and pull the cable and the pp wire back with the thin wire. Leave the other piece of wire in there in case you have to run something else. Depth sounders are usually add on, so there are no zip ties to deal with.

Thanks! Yes, I have a depth finder. That may end up being what works best for me.
